Before You Start
You will receive an OTP by SMS to your existing registered mobile number to confirm you own the account before any change is allowed.
You will also receive an OTP on the new mobile number you want to register, so keep it with you and able to receive SMS during the process.
Step-by-Step
Works the same way on browser and the xe8 app. Have both your current and new phone nearby before you begin.
Log in at xe8.net or via the xe8 app using your current registered mobile number and password.
From any screen, tap Account in the bottom navigation bar.
In the Account menu, tap Profile to open your account details.
Scroll to Contact Information. Next to your current masked phone number, tap Edit.
An OTP Verification panel opens showing your current masked number. Tap Send to receive a 6-digit OTP by SMS, enter it, then tap Verify OTP to confirm you are the account owner.
An Update Contact Number panel opens. Type the new Malaysian mobile number you want to register to your xe8 account. Double-check the digits before continuing.
Tap Send to receive an OTP by SMS on your new number, enter it, then tap Submit. Your registered phone number updates immediately — use your new number the next time you log in or reset your password.
No Access to Your Old Number?
If your registered number is no longer active, self-service change won't work because xe8 can't send you a verification OTP. Contact Customer Support for assisted recovery instead.
Something Not Working?
Work through the table below before contacting support.
| Symptom | Most Likely Cause | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
OTP not received for your current number | Weak mobile signal or telco delay | Ensure you have mobile signal, not just WiFi. Wait a moment and tap Send again. Try switching to mobile data. |
OTP not received for your new number | Number typed incorrectly, or SIM not yet active | Double-check the number you entered has no typos and can receive SMS right now, then tap Send again. |
Verify OTP or Submit button doesn't respond | The OTP field was left empty or the code wasn't fully entered | Make sure you've entered the full code you received before tapping Verify OTP or Submit. |
Can't find the Edit option for your phone number | Looking in the wrong menu | Tap Account in the bottom navigation, then Profile — Edit sits next to your number under Contact Information. |
New number won't submit | Incorrect format or missing digits | Double-check the number matches standard Malaysian mobile format before tapping Send. |
